Giving Sight to the Blind

Hey guys! It's been pretty exciting around here this week. The "eye team" was here this week to perform cataract and pterygium surgeries. It was a group of about 20 people consisting of opthamologists, optamologists, scrub techs, nurses, and other helpers. They came in last Sunday and are leaving tomorrow :( but while they were here they performed miracles and it was amazing to say we were part of it. Many of the patients had no or very little vision in their eye with the cataract and once they heal they should be seeing very well! (Literally giving sight to the blind!!!) We had the chance to help them do pre and post-op and also watched a few surgeries performed. Everyone was awesome and it was an AWESOME experience. (But I forsure know I never want to work with eyes!) During the four days of surgeries almost 100 cataract cases were done and about 20 pterygium cases (which is a film that covers they eye) were done. That's amazing! After seeing the amazing work done this week I cannot wait for the next medical team to get here on Saturday and start working with them. The work done here literally changes peoples lives and they whole heartedly appreciate everything that we do to try and help them even if it is the smallest thing! I am on a high for these medical missions and forsee many of them in the future!!
