Livin' the Life

Well we’ve made it to the half-way point!! I’m having a great time, but starting to feel like I’ve been gone for much longer than 2 weeks. I can’t wait to get home and sleep in my own bed and have some American food. (you can only deal with chicken and rice for so long!) Someone used a blow dryer yesterday and blew out a fuse, so we’ve been dealing with no power, internet, and water on and off for the past day while it is being fixed.

So Friday we had a “free day” which we spent the morning at Madre, the orphanage for girls. We talked with the nuns and a few girls for a project we have to do down here, and had a great time as usual with the girls. They are so welcoming!! In the afternoon we made another trip to the grocery store! Now that we have found that it is so close to us we had to make another trip back! We got ourselves some cervezas, because we HAVE to try Peruvian beer. After mass, we had a little dancing performance where we were called up to join in. In one of the dances they put toilet paper in the back of your pants and you partner had to try and light it with a candle. Well…Abby got brought up and sure enough the guy lit her paper on fire!! It was hilarious! We had a lot of fun as usual.

HAVE THE SAME BARNEY SLEEPING BAG!!

Abby lit on FIRE!

Yesterday we had another procession, this time for the Immaculate Mary which was being carried from the shore where it came off a ship, and made a stop at Sacramento Santisimo. I got to help carry it for a part of the way so that was pretty cool to say I did! Other than that not much exciting happened around here yesterday. But we are going to LA PLAYA today everyone is SUPER excited for that!!! The second medical team of family practice doctors came in this morning as well to set up clinics this week so getting excited for that!
